China and Uzbekistan Chart Next Decade of Partnership in FM Call

On Friday, January 16, 2026, the Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi, and Uzbekistan's foreign minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov, connected by phone to celebrate a milestone: 10 years of their all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership 🎉.

Wang Yi highlighted that strong guidance from both countries' leaders has fueled growing cooperation in trade, culture, and local exchanges. He pointed out that since the start of 2026, global tensions and one-sided moves have made strategic coordination more important than ever 🌐.

"China and Uzbekistan must deepen cooperation, support each other's core interests, and defend the rules of international relations," Wang said, urging both sides to push back against a "law of the jungle" world order and to uphold the United Nations as the cornerstone of global stability.

Saidov noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to China last September gave fresh momentum to bilateral ties. He reaffirmed that Uzbekistan prioritizes its relationship with China, respects the one-China principle, and wants to implement leaders' agreements to strengthen cooperation across all fields 🔗.

As the 10th anniversary kicks off, both ministers agreed to sketch out a bold vision for the next decade – aiming to keep the momentum, expand trade, boost cultural exchanges, and work together on the world stage 💪.

What's next? Expect updates on new trade deals, joint cultural festivals, and stronger multilateral coordination to defend international law. Stay tuned for more from Asia's dynamic diplomacy scene!
