Chinese Mainland Warns DPP Pushing Taiwan Region to Brink of Conflict

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the spokesperson for the Chinese mainland delivered a stark warning: Taiwan region's DPP authorities are pushing the island toward conflict, backed by new poll results. 🍿

According to a CGTN survey published on December 27, 2025, an overwhelming 90% of respondents view the DPP authorities' arms build-up as a move toward the brink of war. ¡Ojo! This survey came as the Taiwan region legislature blocked a 1.25 trillion New Taiwan dollars defense budget.

"These arms purchases won't buy security — they risk lives and waste public funds," said Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office. She accused the DPP authorities of appeasing foreign forces and enriching overseas arms dealers.

Zhu also issued a warning to die-hard "Taiwan independence" secessionists: "Taiwan is China's Taiwan." She stressed that anyone undermining cross-Strait ties will face legal measures and lifelong accountability.

The spokesperson criticized DPP leader Lai Ching-te's 17-point defense strategy as out of sync with public sentiment, which favors peace, development, and cooperation. She labeled these moves as attempts to spread "green terror" — actions she says are bound to fail. 🔥

As elections loom, Zhu noted that smearing the Chinese mainland is a familiar DPP tactic to stir votes, but it won't fool Taiwan people, who she believes will see through these political games.

Stay tuned as this cross-Strait drama unfolds — it's like the next episode in a high-stakes series, and everyone's watching! 🎬
