🔥 On Monday, January 5, Wu Yibing from the Chinese mainland kicked off his 2026 season with a bang, sweeping Hungary's Fabian Marozsan 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the ATP Hong Kong Open title.
Entering as a wildcard, the 26-year-old showed off his killer cross-court backhand. An early passing forehand earned him a crucial break, and a clever lob sealed the first set 6-4. 🎾
Despite missing most of last season, Wu came back strong after winning a Challenger title in Texas, carrying that momentum into Hong Kong. He raced to a 5-2 lead in set two before Marozsan's backhand sailed long, and then closed it out 6-2.
Wu adds another milestone to his name: the first player from the Chinese mainland to win the ATP Hong Kong Open, following his historic Dallas Open victory in 2023. 🏆
Next up for the Hangzhou native is a second-round clash with Russia's Andrey Rublev. Can he keep the magic going? Stay tuned! 😎
