Premier Li Champions Innovation-Led Growth in Guangdong Tour

In early January, Chinese Premier Li Qiang toured Guangdong Province, spotlighting innovation as the engine for future growth 🚀.

In Shenzhen, he visited the Shenzhen-Hong Kong sci-tech innovation cooperation zone and called on policymakers to boost support for research through stronger policies, funding and talent. He emphasized backing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to pool resources and spark breakthroughs 🌐.

Li urged local leaders to expand real-world applications for cutting-edge tech and speed up updates that can transform industries. He also stressed the smart use of major transport corridors to enhance connectivity and coordination across the Bay Area.

Moving on to Foshan, Li noted that rising incomes have triggered new consumer demands. He asked businesses to fast track research and development of high-quality products, creating a virtuous cycle where demand fuels supply and vice versa 🔄.

At the Foshan International Land Port, he examined cross-border e-commerce and bonded logistics operations. Li stressed the need to open up further with high standards, align infrastructure links with unified rules and build major platforms for sci-tech innovation, industry and service trade.

Looking ahead, Li called for growth in digital and green trade, voluntary opening in services, active import expansion and a balanced approach to exports and imports. His tour sets a clear agenda for innovation-driven development as China kicks off its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) this year 📈.
