Earlier today in Beijing, the Chinese premier Li Qiang met with Ireland’s Taoiseach Micheal Martin for talks aimed at taking China-Ireland ties to the next level 🤝🌏.

Li highlighted the strong economic complementarity between the Chinese mainland and Ireland, calling on both sides to align development strategies and tap into new areas of cooperation. From green energy at home to AI breakthroughs and life sciences innovations, the sky’s the limit 🌱💡.

To boost bilateral trade, Li invited Irish businesses to shine at events like the China International Import Expo and the China International Fair for Trade in Services. He also emphasized the need for deeper people-to-people exchanges and smoother travel and work arrangements 🎓✈️.

On the global stage, the Chinese mainland and Ireland plan to team up in the United Nations and other multilateral forums to defend free trade and a rules-based order. With Ireland set to hold the rotating EU presidency later this year, Li expects Dublin to play a positive role in China-EU cooperation 🤝🇪🇺.

Taoiseach Martin, on an official visit, reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. He underlined Dublin’s interest in green economy projects, digital economy ties, investment opportunities, and even joint cultural and educational exchanges 🎭📚.

Both sides expressed eagerness to expand direct flights, boost tourism, and welcome more firms from the Chinese mainland in Ireland. As Martin prepares for the rotating EU presidency, the stage is set for a year of dynamic China-Ireland collaboration 🚀.
