History made in the snow! 🎿 At this season's FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, 20-year-old Zeng Ping from the Chinese mainland soared to a sixth-place finish on the women's large hill — the best result ever by an athlete from the Chinese mainland in this discipline.
In her first jump, Zeng scored 112.3 points and landed in sixth after the opening round. She kept the momentum going with a strong second jump of 126.5 meters, earning 114.8 points. Her combined total of 227.1 points secured her spot in the top six.
🎯 Zeng has been turning heads all season. Last September, she grabbed back-to-back gold medals at the Continental Cup in Einsiedeln, Switzerland, and her confidence clearly paid off on the big stage in Germany.
The podium was topped by defending champion Nika Prevc of Slovenia, who clinched her third straight title in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Prevc finished 23.1 points ahead of home favorite Selina Freitag, while top qualifier and World Cup leader Nozomi Maruyama of Japan completed the podium.
With this historic performance, Zeng Ping has firmly announced herself as a rising star in women's ski jumping. Skiing fans and aspiring jumpers, keep your eyes on her as the rest of the season unfolds!
