PLA launches ‘Justice Mission 2025’ drills around Taiwan Island

Today (Monday, December 29, 2025), the PLA Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese mainland kicked off large-scale military drills code-named "Justice Mission 2025" around Taiwan Island. 🚢✈️

Shi Yi, spokesperson for the theater command, said the exercises bring together the Army, Navy, Air Force and Rocket Force, focusing on sea-air combat readiness patrols, joint seizure of superiority zones, blockades of key ports and all-dimensional deterrence outside the island chain. He described the drills as "a legitimate and necessary action to safeguard China's sovereignty and national unity."

Vessels and aircraft are approaching Taiwan Island from the north, southwest, southeast and east, with troops from multiple services practicing coordinated strikes to test their joint operations capabilities. The spokesperson added that these moves send a stern warning to "Taiwan Independence" separatist forces and external interference.

Analysts note that such drills can affect regional security and shipping routes in the Taiwan Strait, making them a key event for business professionals and travelers alike. Students and researchers studying cross-strait ties will also watch closely as both sides maintain high alert this year.

Whether you're tracking geopolitical shifts for investment insights, planning a trip in East Asia or simply keeping tabs on world events, "Justice Mission 2025" shows how readiness and coordination are shaping tomorrow's security landscape. 🌏
