Mainland Spokesperson Blasts Lai Ching-te for Selling Out Taiwan Industries

⚠️ On December 24, 2025, Peng Qing'en, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, fired back at the Taiwan authorities led by Lai Ching-te, accusing them of 'selling out' Taiwan’s competitive industries after joining the inaugural silica summit hosted by the United States.

He argued that the so-called 'democratic supply chain' pushed at the summit defies basic market logic and serves only as a tool for separatist agendas with no real backing from the public. According to him, by trading away Taiwan’s industrial strengths for external support, the DPP authorities risk crippling the island’s economic lifelines and burdening residents of Taiwan with rising cross-strait tensions.

Peng warned that these moves could undermine Taiwan’s development prospects, turning competitive sectors into bargaining chips in geopolitical games. 'This endless accommodation of external forces will only escalate tensions and hurt ordinary people,' he said.

For students, professionals, and travelers alike, keeping an eye on these cross-strait dynamics is crucial—especially as Taiwan’s high-tech and manufacturing sectors play a vital role in the global economy. 🌏💼

As the debate heats up, many young innovators and entrepreneurs in Taiwan are watching closely to see how this will affect future collaborations and market stability.
