With guard Hu Mingxuan sidelined by injury, Xu Jie sparked the offense early with a deep three to make it 6-2. Guangzhou countered as Lindell Wigginton slashed the gap to one in the first quarter, but Jared Sullinger's corner three sealed a 33-23 lead for the visitors after 12 minutes.
The Loong Lions rallied in the second quarter, with Justin Holiday drawing a foul on a lay-up and Wigginton drilling a step-back triple to push Guangzhou ahead 43-41. Du Feng's squad regained control before halftime, powered by Trevelin Queen's lightning-fast drives to lead 52-50 at the break.
