Last Friday, December 19, 2025, Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works and China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) signed an EPC contract for the first phase of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port on Boubyan Island, northern Jahra Governorate 🚢🤝.
The ceremony was attended by Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, cabinet ministers, and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait and Chinese enterprises. PM Al-Sabah called the port project "a symbol of the strong Kuwait-China friendship" and praised its role in turning strategic partnership into tangible results 🌍.
Liu Xiang, charge d’affaires at the Chinese Embassy, marked the signing as a milestone for bilateral cooperation and high-quality Belt and Road initiatives. He noted the project will drive Kuwait’s economic diversification and support Kuwait Vision 2035 💡.
Chen Zhong, deputy general manager of CCCC, highlighted that this is CCCC’s first Middle East port project using Chinese standards and technology from day one. He pledged to make the port a showcase of China-Kuwait teamwork 🚀.
As a cornerstone of Kuwait’s plan to build a regional trade hub, the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port is one of the flagship initiatives under Kuwait Vision 2035. Once complete, it’s set to boost trade, create jobs, and open new doors for investors and entrepreneurs in the region 🏗️💼.
