Macao SAR Marks 26th Anniversary of Return to China

Today, Macao SAR lit up Golden Lotus Square with a vibrant flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 26th anniversary of their return to China 🎉🇨🇳.

At 8 a.m., a solemn honor guard marched in the Chinese national flag and the Macao SAR flag. As the military band played the national anthem, both banners rose together, fluttering in the breeze.

Sam Hou Fai, chief executive of the Macao SAR, and Zheng Xinchong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, joined senior officials and community representatives in the ceremony.

In a CMG interview, Macao Legislative Council member Song Pek Kei looked back on 26 years of growth and stability. She explained that, starting next year, Macao will develop its "Three-Five" plan alongside the country's new 15th Five-Year Plan, unlocking fresh opportunities for the region.

Song also urged young people to chase their dreams and play an active role in national development, reinforcing the strength of the One Country, Two Systems framework 🌟.

For 22-year-old resident Huang Tzu Tsai, watching the two flags rise side by side was a moving moment: "Over these 26 years, Macao has enjoyed lasting prosperity and stability, thanks to the unwavering support of China," he shared with pride.

As Macao looks ahead, its youth are set to shape a future that blends local energy with national strategy—proof that the best is still to come!
