Chinese Mainland Patrols Xiamen-Kinmen Waters to Safeguard Order

Hey amigos! 🌊 This Saturday, the Chinese mainland reaffirmed that its coast guard patrols in the Xiamen-Kinmen waters are all about keeping maritime order and protecting fishermen across the Taiwan Strait.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, told reporters that recent law enforcement patrols in the so-called "prohibited waters" near Kinmen—an island administered by the Taiwan region—are part of regular operations to maintain safety at sea.

He emphasized that Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu are all parts of China. The Xiamen-Kinmen waters have long been a traditional fishing ground for residents on both sides, and no official "prohibited or restricted waters" exist there.

According to Chen, these patrols also aim to safeguard the lives and property of fishermen operating across the Taiwan Strait, ensuring they can carry out their work without danger.

Chen also urged Taiwan authorities to stop detaining mainland fishing vessels and their crews and to end any violent treatment of mainland fishermen. "Otherwise, the DPP authorities will have to face all ensuing consequences," he warned.

This development highlights the ongoing cross-strait dynamics over maritime operations. Stay tuned for more updates on cross-strait ties and regional developments! 🌐
