Last night at Qingdao's arena, American guard Quinndary Weatherspoon went absolutely beast mode, dropping a season-high 56 points to power the Qingdao Eagles past the Nanjing Monkey Kings 99-88. With this win in east China's Shandong Province, Qingdao improved to 3-0 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). 🔥🏀
Weatherspoon was on a serious heat check, nailing 16 of 20 shots and an insane 19 of 20 from the free-throw line. He hit double digits in each of the first three quarters, helping the Eagles build an 84-66 lead before cruising to the final buzzer.
Not only did he become the first player to hit 50 points this season, but he kept pouring it on in the fourth quarter, turning the court into his personal highlight reel.
Meanwhile, in Beijing, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers secured a 105-95 road win over the Beijing Royal Fighters, marking their second win of the season. The Royal Fighters lost All-Star big man Shen Zijie to an ankle injury just two minutes in, and Xinjiang exploited the gap, scoring 61 first-half points to lead 61-44 at the break.
Beijing tried to mount a comeback behind Grant Riller's drives and Zou Yuchen's outside shooting, trimming the deficit by eight in the third quarter. But the Flying Tigers locked it down in the final period, leaving both teams at 2-1.
