China Slams US Arms Sale to Taiwan Region, Warns of Serious Consequences

🚨 Tensions are rising across the Taiwan Strait! This week, China’s Ministry of National Defense and Foreign Ministry voiced strong opposition to the United States’ approval of a large-scale arms sale to the Taiwan region. Beijing argues the move violates the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, and threatens its sovereignty and security.

On Friday, spokesperson Jiang Bin said the deal ‘seriously undermines strategic mutual trust’ and sends a ‘seriously wrong signal’ to ‘Taiwan independence’ secessionist forces. He warned that using taxpayers’ money to fuel military ambitions will only lead to self-destruction for Taiwan people.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun echoed the message, calling the arms sale ‘blatant interference’ in China’s internal affairs and a threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. He warned that the real danger lies in ‘Taiwan independence’ secessionist activities by the Lai Ching-te authorities and interference from external forces. Guo stressed that China’s core interests and bottom lines cannot be crossed, and any attempts to arm the Taiwan region will face serious consequences. ⚠️

Both spokespeople urged the U.S. to honor its commitment not to support ‘Taiwan independence’ and to halt arms sales immediately. The Chinese People’s Liberation Army, they warned, will keep its combat readiness strong to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

As cross-strait ties stay on edge, all eyes are now on Washington and Beijing—will this move deepen the divide, or push both sides back to the negotiation table? 🌐
