China Demands U.S. Halt $11B Arms Sale to Taiwan

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, China's State Council Taiwan Affairs Office fired back at the U.S.'s plan to sell up to $11 billion in weapons to the Taiwan region 🎯. Spokesperson Chen Binhua labeled the move as 'blatant interference' in China's internal affairs and a violation of the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques.

Chen warned that the massive arms package undermines the Chinese mainland's sovereignty and security, and sends the wrong message to secessionists in the Taiwan region. He urged Washington to stop supporting 'Taiwan independence' forces and to uphold the one-China principle.

The spokesperson also slammed the DPP authorities for turning the Taiwan region into a 'powder keg' and treating residents as 'cannon fodder', exposing them as 'peace-breakers' and 'warmongers'.

He warned that China's reunification is unstoppable. Any 'Taiwan independence' forces daring to cross the red line will face decisive countermeasures.

As cross-strait ties face new strains, the international spotlight is on whether Washington will heed Beijing's call—and what this means for regional stability 🌏.
