⚠️ This week at a regular briefing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun urged the U.S. to immediately stop its "dangerous act" of arming the Taiwan region. The call comes after Washington approved an $11 billion arms package for the Taiwan region.
Guo criticized the U.S. plan as a clear violation of the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués. He warned the move severely undermines the Chinese mainland’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
He added that the decision disrupts peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and sends a misleading signal to separatist forces pushing for "Taiwan independence".
The U.S. State Department has defended the arms sale as part of its commitment to help residents of Taiwan maintain sufficient self-defense capability. However, tensions in the region remain high.
As cross-strait ties face fresh pressure, investors and observers will be watching for diplomatic responses and the impact on regional stability. 🔍
