Shenzhen just closed the curtain on an epic week of sport and inspiration! From December 8 to 15, the Chinese mainland’s 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games brought together 7,824 athletes across 46 sports. Hosted for the first time by three regions—Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao SAR—the event showcased unity and perseverance. 🎉
Over seven days in the Greater Bay Area, competitors from 34 delegations smashed 15 world records and set 156 national records. Whether in track and field, swimming or team events, every moment was packed with passion and courage. 🌟
“Behind the 279 medals awarded in the Macao SAR, there is a portrayal of the spirit of disabled athletes surpassing themselves, as well as a witness to the beautiful vision of people supporting each other and moving forward hand in hand,” said Pun Weng Kun, head of the Macao SAR’s Coordination Office. 🤝
Looking ahead, the 13th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 10th National Special Olympic Games will be hosted by Hunan Province in 2029. Until then, the legacy of Shenzhen’s trailblazing week will keep inspiring athletes and fans alike. 🚀
