China and Singapore Deepen Belt and Road Ties with Innovation Boost 🚀

China and Singapore are leveling up their game! 🚀 This Monday, top leaders from both sides gathered in Chongqing to co-chair four key bilateral councils, aiming to supercharge cooperation in areas from trade to tech.

The meetings included the 21st China-Singapore Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation, the 26th China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Joint Steering Council, the 17th China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Joint Steering Council, and the 9th China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Joint Steering Council.

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong dove into discussions on high-quality Belt and Road Initiative projects, national-level collaborations, and joint efforts in sustainable development, finance, innovation, public health, plus people-to-people and cultural exchanges. They agreed to align development strategies, tap policy levers to upgrade flagship projects, and nurture fresh, high-value industries to deliver landmark results.

Both sides also committed to safeguarding the multilateral trading system—key for driving regional prosperity and stability. Ding highlighted the stable growth of China-Singapore ties, crediting strategic leadership and mutual trust. Gan reaffirmed Singapore’s firm support for the one-China policy and opposition to “Taiwan independence.”

The week wrapped up with Ding and Gan launching the Chongqing–Central Asia and Chongqing–Southeast Asia International Railway Express under the China-Singapore Multi-Modal Demonstration Project—an exciting new route that promises faster, greener connections across Asia. 🌏🚄
