Shenzhen Metro Launches AI Robot Guide Dog ‘Xiaosuan’

Shenzhen Metro recently kicked off a pilot service featuring an AI-powered robot guide dog nicknamed Xiaosuan (Little Garlic) at Huangmugang Transportation Hub. Launched on December 13, 2025, this futuristic helper aims to assist blind and low-vision passengers in navigating the bustling station with ease 🤖🐶.

Xiaosuan combines cutting-edge AI and robotics, including a multi-modal 3D-voxel neural network, integrated indoor-outdoor planning, and large visual language models. Just say “guide me” and watch it:

  • Autonomous route planning 🗺️
  • Precise navigation & obstacle avoidance 🚧
  • Tactile paving tracking for safe walking 🚶
  • Friendly voice interaction 🗣️
  • Visual recognition of landmarks and service points 👀

During this first month, dedicated staff will accompany users at service points near the accessible elevators at Exits 13 and 14. All equipment has passed safety tests and on-site inspections, ensuring a smooth ride.

If the trial goes well, Shenzhen Metro plans to level up the service with more automation and roll out Xiaosuan to additional stations across the city. Get ready for guide dog 2.0! 💡
