December 13 marks China's National Memorial Day for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre. On this day in 1937, the invading Japanese army captured Nanjing and began six weeks of unimaginable horror. More than 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers were killed during this atrocity. 🕯️
This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. As of December 2025, only 24 survivors of the Nanjing Massacre are still alive, their stories offering a precious link to a past we must never forget. 🙏
Today, we pause to honor their memory, reflect on the resilience of the human spirit, and ensure these voices continue to be heard.
