China Unveils New Russian Evidence on Japanese Unit 731

Ever wonder how history keeps its secrets? 🔍 China's Central Archives recently received a trove of evidence from Russia that shines new light on one of WWII's darkest chapters: Japanese Unit 731.

Unit 731 was a top-secret germ warfare unit led by the Japanese invading forces, based in Harbin, in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. Between 1939 and 1950, they conducted horrific human experiments and developed biological weapons.

The newly arrived archive copies include:

  • Trial records of Unit 731 members
  • Investigation reports detailing the unit's crimes
  • Internal correspondence of Soviet authorities

These documents cover the period from May 11, 1939 to December 25, 1950, and involve at least 3,000 victims from China, the Soviet Union and other countries and regions.

These archives are a powerful reminder of the importance of confronting the past and honoring its victims. 💡
