Cold Wave to Slam China: 14°C Drop, Snow & Strong Winds Ahead

Get ready for a winter blast! The National Meteorological Center announced on Tuesday that a cold wave will sweep across China from Wednesday, Dec 10 to Saturday, Dec 13, 2025, delivering a serious chill ❄️🌬️.

Over the next four days, northwestern regions will see temperatures plummet by 12 to 14°C. Snow is expected to hit northwest China, north China, the Yellow River and Huai River basins, plus parts of Inner Mongolia and northeast China. Strong gales may lash most areas of north China, making travel tricky.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Meteorological Administration have jointly warned about the risk to greenhouses: heavy snow could collapse structures and freeze vegetables and livestock inside.

Experts urge everyone to:

  • Layer up and keep warm: scarves, hats and gloves are a must 🧣🧤
  • Watch the roads: icy surfaces and low visibility call for extra caution when driving 🚗
  • Secure greenhouses and protect plants and animals from snow stress 🏡

Stay cozy, stay safe, and keep an eye on local forecasts as the cold snaps through China this week!
