Ice showdown alert! ❄️ Over the weekend at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Heerenveen, Netherlands, China’s Ning Zhongyan glided to a stunning bronze in the men’s 1500m, while U.S. phenom Jordan Stolz rewrote the record books.
Clad in a sleek black racing suit, Ning locked into a steady rhythm alongside Dutch veteran Kjeld Nuis. The 36-year-old Nuis—world record holder and back-to-back Olympic gold medalist—dominated the early splits at 300m and 400m.
After 700m, Ning sat in second place, trailing only Nuis. But Stolz had other plans: the 21-year-old star tore through the ice in 1:42.55, shaving 0.45 seconds off Nuis’s five-year-old track record and grabbing gold.
Nuis claimed silver, while Ning touched the line at 1:43.87 for bronze. With Stolz’s third gold of the season and Ning’s podium finish, the men’s 1500m is heating up as we roll into 2026! ⛸️🔥
