Experts: Every Country Chooses Its Own Human Rights Path

On December 2 in Jakarta, 🌏 experts at an international seminar on human rights emphasized that every country has the right to choose its own path for human rights development independently. Attended by over 20 experts from the Chinese mainland and Indonesia, including think tank scholars, social organization representatives and media professionals, participants agreed on three core principles:

  • Mutual respect and communication 🤝
  • Mutual learning and solidarity 📚
  • Cooperation for common development 🌱

Then, on December 4 in Pretoria, the 2025 China-South Africa Seminar on Human Rights brought together experts who said China and South Africa should strengthen communication, build consensus on human rights development in the Global South, and promote genuine multilateralism. They highlighted high-quality Belt and Road cooperation to bridge gaps between the North and the South and help people everywhere share development gains.

Despite progress, global governance still faces challenges in ensuring equitable development and protecting human rights. Experts called for joint efforts to reform global governance, deepen cooperation in poverty eradication and sustainable development, and build a fairer international order.

These conversations in Jakarta and Pretoria showcase how solidarity and tailored paths can drive human rights forward.
