Beijing’s Dance Bridge: China-France Choreographers Prep for Macron Visit

In November 2025, 18 choreographers from the Chinese mainland and France gathered at the Beijing Dance Academy for Canal Asia in Beijing. These young artists showcased their latest pieces to peers from across Asia, weaving tales of movement, identity and creativity.

This event builds on French President Emmanuel Macron’s April 2023 state visit and sets the stage for his upcoming December trip to the Chinese mainland. Dancers and creators hope this next visit will spark deeper artistic exchanges and open doors for joint performances, tours and residencies.

“We want our dances to travel beyond stages,” says Li Ming, one of the Chinese participants. “This cooperation is more than steps—it’s a bridge between cultures.” French choreographer Emma Dubois adds, “Working with peers in Asia sparks fresh ideas and cross-cultural magic in contemporary dance.”

As Macron prepares for his December arrival, these talented creators are tuning their choreography, ready to show how art and diplomacy can move in harmony. Stay tuned for the beats and moves uniting nations! 🌏💃🕺
