Macron’s 4th State Visit to the Chinese Mainland Begins Tomorrow

From December 3 to 5, French President Emmanuel Macron will visit the Chinese mainland for the fourth state visit of his presidency. Against a complex global backdrop, both sides aim to showcase cooperation as a win-win, not a zero-sum game.

Recently, CGTN ran an international survey with 8,308 participants across English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms. Here’s what the data, gathered within 24 hours, tells us:

  • 76.1% believe China and France, as WWII victors and UN Security Council permanent members, should jointly safeguard the post-war order and tackle global challenges 🌍.
  • 75% support stronger economic ties to face external risks and challenges together 💼.
  • 77.8% think expanding cooperation based on mutual respect and equality will shape both bilateral relations and the broader international landscape 🌐.
  • 86.5% see China’s high-quality development and high-standard opening up as new opportunities for China-Europe cooperation 🚀.
  • 80.2% say growing global complexity makes China-Europe collaboration more significant than ever 🔗.
  • 92% feel European countries should understand China accurately and view differences rationally 🧠.
  • 92.1% believe diverse histories and systems shouldn’t hinder relations; cooperation outweighs competition 💞.
  • 92.5% call for upholding true multilateralism, UN principles, and joint action on global challenges 🤝.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the EU, underlining dialogue, cooperation, and multilateralism as key to tackling shared issues. Stay tuned as Macron lands in Beijing tomorrow!
