This morning at 10:18 a.m., firefighting and search teams officially wrapped up rescue operations at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po after a devastating residential complex fire 🙏.
Chris Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Security of the HKSAR government, confirmed the tragic death toll has risen to 128. He added that around 200 residents remain unaccounted for, as their loved ones anxiously await news.
The Hong Kong Police Force will carry out a full evidence collection and investigation into the blaze, expected to last three to four weeks. Authorities aim to uncover the cause and ensure accountability.
Director of Fire Services of the HKSAR government Andy Yeung Yan-kin highlighted that a total of 391 fire engine sorties, 185 ambulance sorties and 2,311 personnel were deployed—proof of the massive mobilization at the peak of the emergency 🚒.
The Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee also coordinated with Guangdong Province to provide crucial support and relief efforts to affected communities.
