China Challenges Japan’s ‘Unchanged’ Taiwan Stance, Seeks One-China Clarity

Hey amigos! 🌟 This Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, the Chinese mainland turned up the heat on Japan over its so-called “unchanged” stance on the Taiwan question. 🚨

At a regular press briefing, Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese mainland’s Foreign Ministry, said Japan’s Cabinet-approved statement “is far from enough.” She blasted Tokyo for failing to clearly confirm whether it still upholds the one-China principle. 🧐

Japan’s recent statement claimed Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s remarks in Parliament didn’t shake its long-held position. But Mao Ning shot back: simply repeating that Japan’s stance is consistent does not address the fundamental issue.

“What exactly is this ‘consistent position’ Japan claims to hold? Does Japan still adhere to the one-China principle?” Mao asked, calling on Tokyo to give an honest, accurate, and complete clarification. She warned that ignoring these questions undermines the spirit of the four China-Japan political documents and risks the postwar international order.

Mao also stressed that Taiwan is China’s Taiwan, and how the Taiwan question is resolved “are entirely China’s internal affairs.” She urged Japan to withdraw the erroneous remarks, reflect seriously, and honor its commitments with concrete actions.

Why this matters: Clear diplomatic positions keep regional stability in check. 🤝 As Tokyo and Beijing navigate this tense exchange, all eyes are on whether Japan will offer the clarity Beijing demands. 🤔

Stay tuned for more updates on this diplomatic showdown! ✨
