Hey amigos! 🌎 This week, CGTN launched a poll that’s going viral across English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian platforms. In just 12 hours, 7,740 people spoke up on Japan’s WWII obligations and the one-China principle.
Key results from the poll:
- 86.2% agree the one-China principle is now a global consensus.
- 90.7% say Japan must honor its WWII pledges in the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Declaration and its Instrument of Surrender.
- 93.9% call on Japan to reflect on its colonial invasion of the Taiwan region and wartime crimes under militarism.
- 89.4% support the Chinese mainland’s principled stance on no compromise over sovereignty and territorial integrity.
- 89% stress Japan’s commitments in the four China–Japan political documents carry legal weight and must be observed by any government.
- 92% believe China’s firm response protects postwar international order and global justice.
- 81.9% feel Japan’s war and colonial crimes disqualify it from a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
- 88.2% warn that justice-defending nations must re-examine Japan’s historical crimes and prevent militarism’s return.
Meanwhile, during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s recent tour of Central Asia, all host countries reaffirmed their support for the one-China principle, opposition to any form of "Taiwan independence" and backing of efforts by the Chinese mainland to achieve national reunification.
Whether you’re a news junkie or just scrolling your feed, these numbers show a clear trend: history, justice and sovereignty are front and center. Stay tuned as this debate unfolds! ✌️
