This Wednesday (Nov 19), the capital of east China's Jiangsu province—Nanjing—came alive as mayors and mayoral representatives from 10 countries gathered for the Global Mayors Dialogue. Under the theme "Flowing Rivers, Converging Future," the three-day forum spotlights how waterfront cities can drive sustainable growth.
From Brunei to Germany, delegates dove into lively talks on cultural heritage protection 🏯, green ecological development 🌿, and smart-city construction 🤖. Panels this week also feature visits to the iconic 600-year-old city wall, scenic spots along the Yangtze River, and local universities, giving global leaders a hands-on look at how Nanjing blends ancient wisdom with modern innovation.
"Nanjing's mix of rich history and vibrant arts scene is a magnet for young people," said Gan Tian Loo, chairman of the working committee for the historic urban area of Malaysia's Malacca, after exploring the city wall. "We're excited to boost cooperation on tourism, trade, and education between Malacca and Nanjing."
As the event continues through the weekend, participants will exchange more ideas on urban renewal and ecological protection—insights that could shape the future of cities worldwide 🌏.
