China Warns Japan of ‘Crushing Defeat’ Over Taiwan Question

On Friday, November 14, 2025, at a Beijing press conference, Jiang Bin, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, delivered a stark message to Tokyo. 😲

His warning followed remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who suggested the Japanese Self-Defense Force could invoke collective self-defense if the Chinese mainland uses military force against the Taiwan region. Jiang called these comments a “gross interference in China’s internal affairs” and a breach of the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan.

He said Tokyo's stance “challenges the post-war international order” and sends “very wrong signals to Taiwan secessionists.” Such statements are “extremely irresponsible and dangerous,” Jiang added.

Jiang Bin emphasized that the Taiwan question is purely China’s internal affair and brooks no foreign interference. “Should the Japanese side dare to take a risk or even use force, it will only suffer a crushing defeat against the steel-willed People’s Liberation Army and pay a heavy price,” he warned.

This exchange ramps up tension in China-Japan relations, where history and territorial issues already loom large. ⚔️

In a region that often feels like a high-stakes drama, this latest exchange highlights the fragility of cross-strait ties and the power of diplomatic words in today's geopolitical landscape. 🔄
