Diving Drama: Lian Junjie’s Epic Comeback and Lin Shan’s Gold at National Games

Ready for some diving drama? 🤿 This Tuesday (Nov 11), at China’s 15th National Games in Guangzhou, Shandong’s Lian Junjie made an epic comeback and clinched gold in the men’s 10m platform final.

Back after a nine-month shoulder injury, Lian faced stiff competition. Beijing veteran Cao Yuan kicked things off with a huge 91.80-point dive, and 14-year-old sensation Zhao Renjie briefly surged into first place in round two. Then, in round three, Lian seized the lead with a near-flawless dive while a few rivals stumbled.

The standings stayed tight as Cao bounced back to retake first. But on his final attempt, Lian delivered a jaw-dropping 105.45-point dive—the highest of the day—totaling 530.85 points and edging out Cao by just 3.50 points. Zhao rounded out the podium in third.

Meanwhile, in the women’s 3m springboard final, Lin Shan dazzled with her precision and claimed gold, proving she’s a force to be reckoned with. 🎉

For Lian, this win caps off an incredible return—adding to his all-around gold and team bronze earlier in the competition. With confidence sky-high, he’s diving into whatever comes next! 🌟
