China Urges Japan to Halt Signals to ‘Taiwan Secessionists’

Japan's recent decision to confer an order on Hsieh Chang-ting, the so-called former Taiwan's Representative in Japan, has prompted a strong response from the Chinese mainland. At a press briefing on Wednesday, spokesperson Guo Jiakun urged Tokyo to rethink its stance and stop sending any wrong signals to 'Taiwan secessionists.' 🇨🇳🛑

Guo stressed that the Taiwan question lies at the core of the Chinese mainland's core interests and forms the political foundation of China-Japan ties. He reminded that respecting the one-China principle is crucial for trust between the two nations.

This year marks two major 80th anniversaries: the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the restoration of Taiwan to the Chinese mainland. Guo called on Japan to face its wartime responsibilities, honor the guiding principles of past political documents, and demonstrate its commitment through concrete actions. 🇯🇵🤝

With tensions over the Taiwan question rising, Guo's message is clear: Tokyo must be prudent and avoid moves that could embolden separatist voices in Taiwan. The ball is now in Japan's court to uphold regional stability and mutual trust. 🌏✌️
