China’s Next-Gen Aircraft Carrier Fujian Sets Sail for High Seas

Get ready for some epic sea power! The Fujian, China’s first aircraft carrier with electromagnetic catapults, officially joined the fleet and is all set to hit the open ocean on a regular basis 🌊🚢.

Home at Sanya naval port in Hainan, Senior Captain Leng Guowei reminded us that the vast sea is where the Fujian truly belongs: “The ocean is its true home.”

Commissioned just this Wednesday, the Fujian is the largest warship in the Chinese navy. Named after Fujian Province and launched in June 2022, it’s the first carrier fully designed and built by China.

Testing has been nonstop. Carrier-based jets like the J-35, J-15T, J-15D, plus the KongJing-600 early warning aircraft and the Z-20 helicopters, have been flying steadily toward deployment ✈️.

Many of the Fujian’s systems and tech are debuting for the first time at sea. Leng says the carrier will keep undergoing in-depth tests to fine-tune everything before it’s fully outfitted.

Despite its firepower, Leng stresses the Fujian isn’t aimed at any country or region. Its mission is clear: protecting national sovereignty, security, and development interests ⚓️.

Bearing hull number 18, Fujian joins two other carriers in service. The Chinese navy will plan future carriers based on defense needs, Leng adds.

From shore to sea, the Fujian’s deployment marks a new chapter in ocean operations. Stay tuned for more waves from China’s high-tech flagship!
