Get ready for a Cuban wave at this year's China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on the Chinese mainland! 🇨🇺✨ From Nov 5 to 10, 23 Cuban companies will dive into a high-tech business ecosystem that brings global buyers face-to-face with vibrant suppliers.
Naima Alfonso Acosta, director of the department of associates at the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, calls CIIE "an irreplaceable accelerator for business relations." She says trade and cooperation between Cuba and the Chinese mainland have continued to grow over time.
The Cuban delegation covers a range of sectors:
- Agri-food producers 🌾
 - Tech innovators 💻
 - Biopharmaceutical pioneers 💉
 - Perfumery & cosmetics brands 💄

And the action doesn't stop when the expo ends! Participants use the trip to tour factories and secure deals—like last year's rum sales boom via e-commerce in the Chinese mainland.
One standout is BioCubaFarma, led by VP Santiago Duenas. With joint ventures and labs already in the Chinese mainland, they're showcasing:
- A neuroprotective treatment for dementia 🧠
 - An acne therapy 🌟
 - Cancer treatments based on monoclonal antibodies 🎗️
 - New biotech platforms 🔬

More than 30 cooperation projects have sprouted from past expos. "China is a strategic ally in pharmaceutical cooperation," Duenas explains.
Overall, Cuba's presence at CIIE 2024 is part of a forward-looking vision under the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthening a China-Cuba community with a shared future. 🌍🤝
