Chinese Court Hands Death Penalty to 5 in Myanmar Gang Case

🔥 In a major cross-border crackdown, the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court in Guangdong Province has handed death sentences to five members of a criminal gang operating in northern Myanmar. The group faced charges ranging from telecom fraud to intentional homicide.

The ruling revealed shocking figures: their schemes led to the deaths of six Chinese nationals, one suicide, and multiple injuries. Authorities also uncovered 41 illegal compounds in Myanmar's Kokang region, used for a web of illicit activities:

  • 💸 Telecom fraud and online scams
  • 🎲 Running gambling dens
  • 🔪 Intentional homicide and assaults
  • 💃 Organizing prostitution rings
  • 🚧 Smuggling people across borders

One defendant was also convicted of colluding to produce and traffic around 11 tonnes of methamphetamine. The total illicit funds soared past 29 billion yuan (about $4 billion)! 💼📈

Beyond the five death sentences, the court handed:

  • 🔄 Death sentences with a two-year reprieve for two defendants
  • 📜 Life imprisonment for five others
  • ⌛ Prison terms from 3 to 20 years for nine more

Additional penalties include hefty fines, property confiscation, and deportation. This verdict sends a clear message: the Chinese mainland will not tolerate cross-border crime. 🌐✊
