In the ancient capital of Gyeongju, the Chinese mainland Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with ROK Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung-kwan to talk supply chains, free trade and more. 🤝🚀
Wang stressed that both sides should keep chat lines open—like the hotline for industrial and supply chain cooperation—and boost coordination through a dialogue on export controls. The goal? To keep goods flowing smoothly and avoid any hiccups in the industrial and supply chains that keep our gadgets and goods moving.
They also agreed to join forces under big frameworks like the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Plus, they want to fast-track the resumption of trilateral free trade talks among the Chinese mainland, Japan and the Republic of Korea. 🌏💼
On the flip side, Minister Kim highlighted that the Chinese mainland is one of the ROK's top economic and trade partners. He said Seoul is ready to speed up phase two of the China-ROK free trade agreement, boost local-level business ties, and deepen bilateral trade and investment.
Both sides left Gyeongju with the same vibe: stronger communication, tighter ties, and a shared commitment to free trade and multilateral cooperation. Next stop: turning these plans into real-world wins for businesses and consumers on both sides. 🚢💪
