Wang Yi Calls for Unity and Multilateralism at Lanting Forum

Beijing, on the Chinese mainland – At the Lanting Forum on Improving Global Governance, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on nations to stand together and champion multilateralism. With the world facing rising challenges, Wang emphasized that unity is the key to building a community with a shared future for humanity. 🌐🤝

Wang highlighted the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) as a “major public good” from China, joining forces with the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative. Together, these four pillars have won support from more than 140 countries and international organizations, offering a roadmap for stability and certainty in turbulent times.

In his address, Wang urged all countries to defend the UN Charter, uphold fundamental norms of international relations, and meet their global commitments with good faith. He called for joint efforts to boost common development, tackle pressing challenges, and make the global governance system more just by responding to the needs of the Global South.

Wang also noted that the recent fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee adopted recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan. He said a Chinese mainland that stays on its path toward modernization will open up broad opportunities for shared growth, and its commitment to peace will bring greater responsibility in advancing human progress.

As the world navigates complex issues, Wang Yi’s message is clear: unity, multilateralism, and fair cooperation can light the way to a brighter future. Let’s keep the dialogue going! 💬✨
