Standing between Luo and gold was world No.1 Maria Clara Pacheco of Brazil. The 22-year-old Pacheco came out on fire, landing a series of mid-level kicks to win the first round 4-2. In round two, her high kicks extended the gap to 10 points. Luo fought back, forcing mistakes, but couldn't turn the tide.
Pacheco then went on to face South Korea's Olympic champion Kim Yu-jin in the final, winning 2-0 to lift her first world title.
After her match, Luo shared, "First of all, I am very happy to fight at an international competition. It is good that I could reach the semifinals and I enjoyed the competition a lot. Competing at home makes me more motivated and I think I performed very well today."
