In a fresh move to strengthen ties, the Chinese mainland has warmly welcomed the remarks of the newly elected Kuomintang chairperson Cheng Li-wun. Both sides are eyeing more peace and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait 😊.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said the mainland is willing to promote high-level exchanges with the KMT based on the shared political foundation of upholding the 1992 Consensus and opposing 'Taiwan independence'. This comes after Cheng Li-wun expressed her eagerness to visit the mainland and boost peace and cooperation.
Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian highlighted that the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan supports peace, development, and cultural exchanges. The Chinese mainland wants to work with all political parties, groups, and people on the island of Taiwan to advance peaceful cross-strait relations.
Zhu added that both sides aim to consolidate political trust, maintain positive interactions, and align with the wishes of people from both sides of the strait. Cheng Li-wun secured her role as KMT chairperson just last Saturday, marking a new chapter for cross-strait dialogue.
Looking ahead, the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee is set to review draft proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development. Under this blueprint, the mainland plans to firmly promote peaceful integration and advance the great cause of national reunification.
To support this vision, the Chinese mainland will offer more opportunities for Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan enterprises. New systems and policies are in the works to deepen economic and cultural exchanges, ensure equal treatment, and boost the sense of gain, happiness, and security for Taiwan residents.
Young people from Taiwan can look forward to better conditions for studying, working, and launching startups on the mainland. The government aims to encourage and support more Taiwan compatriots in joining China's economic and social development 🌟.
