HKSAR’s 7th LegCo Breaks Record with 130 Bills Passed

In a landmark achievement, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's (HKSAR) seventh-term Legislative Council (LegCo) just leveled up its lawmaking game. 🏛️

Over its four-year term, this LegCo passed a total of 130 bills—which is 49 more than the previous council managed to push through! 🚀 From policy tweaks to major reforms, that's a serious sprint in the lawmaking marathon.

"This outcome proves the power of our executive-led system," said Starry Lee, chairperson of the LegCo House Committee. Lee highlighted that as the term nears its end, legislators have stayed true to their mission: patriots, defenders of the executive-led system, genuine voices for public opinion, and top-notch governance pros.

By working hand in hand with the Chief Executive and keeping healthy checks and balances, the legislature has boosted governance and brought the One Country, Two Systems policy to life 🎉

Looking ahead, Lee hopes the eighth-term LegCo will keep this momentum, staying closely in sync with the executive to better serve residents of Hong Kong. 💪
