Budapest was buzzing on Friday as the Hungarian edition of the second volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" made its debut at a lively launch event. More than 200 guests from politics, academia, and cultural circles came together to celebrate this milestone in China-Hungary relations. 📖🤝
The book, translated by the Foreign Languages Press of China and the Eurasia Center of John von Neumann University, gathers 99 works by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping. Spread across 17 themes, it features speeches, talks, articles, and policy instructions from August 2014 to September 2017.
Sandor Fazekas, deputy speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, highlighted how these writings tackle universal questions: balancing growth with tradition, protecting sovereignty while embracing global responsibility. He praised Xi's vision of a community with a shared future for humanity, reminding everyone that today's challenges require teamwork across borders. 🌍
Yu Yingfu, vice president of China International Communications Group, noted that the volume embodies open and win-win development, people-centered governance, and fresh ideas on global cooperation. "This book is an intellectual bridge between the Chinese mainland and Hungarian civilizations," he said.
Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Gong Tao added that the Hungarian edition opens a new window for readers to explore Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He believes the book will strengthen the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
Local experts also weighed in: Levente Horvath of John von Neumann University called it a key to understanding China's global role, while Gyula Thurmer of the Hungarian Workers’ Party saw it as a landmark in Hungary's political and intellectual life. Judit Gerencser of the National Szechenyi Library emphasized its value for students and researchers.
After the presentations, scholars and officials dove into discussions on China-Hungary governance experiences, Belt and Road collaborations, modernization opportunities, and shifts in global governance. The event was co-hosted by China's State Council Information Office, the China International Communications Group, and the Chinese Embassy in Hungary. ✨
With this launch, the new edition doesn't just add a title to library shelves—it sparks fresh dialogue and cultural exchange, connecting young minds from Budapest to Beijing. 🔗
