Guangxi’s Tang Xiao Shoots to Gold in 10m Air Pistol Final at National Games

🎯 Ready, aim, gold! At the 15th National Games of China in Guangzhou, Guangxi’s Tang Xiao delivered a killer performance in the women’s 10m air pistol final, rising above tough competition to claim top honors. 🏅

The showdown kicked off with two rounds of five shots; after that, the lowest scorer was eliminated every two shots. Hubei’s Ruan Mengying led early, with strong starts from Guizhou’s Qian Wei and Tokyo Olympics mixed team champ Jiang Ranxin of Shanghai hot on her heels. But when Qian, Jiang and Ruan all had an off-target moment, Tang seized her chance.

Tang’s best so far had been a silver in the 2019 National Shooting Championships’ mixed team event. But this was her first National Games, and she stayed cool under pressure. With her final shot landing a 9.6, she finished on 240.3 points — gold for Guangxi! 😎✨ Ruan took silver, while Jiang claimed bronze.

“I was lucky,” Tang admitted. “I focused on deep breaths and shot decisively. This was the best final I’ve ever had.”

💥 The excitement didn’t stop there. In the women’s 50m rifle three positions, 18-year-old Wang Zifei staged an epic comeback. She surged from seventh to first, racking up 462.9 points to overtake Zhejiang’s Han Jiayu (462.6) and grab her second title of these Games. Beijing’s Li Yanan earned bronze, marking her team’s first shooting medal here.

Meanwhile, in the men’s 10m air pistol team final, six-time World Cup winner Hu Kai bounced back strong. Leading Anhui, he helped secure a 16-6 victory over Hebei. In the bronze match, Jilin edged Guizhou 16-10 in a tight clash led by Olympic champ Xie Yu. 🏆

From clutch shots to thrilling comebacks, these finals showed why shooting sports keep our hearts racing. Who’s ready for more gold moments? 🚀
