Chinese Mainland Braces for Heavy Rains and Strong Winds

Heads up! From 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, the National Meteorological Center has issued fresh blue and yellow alerts for heavy rainstorms and strong winds across the Chinese mainland.

Regions on yellow rainstorm alert include Chongqing, Hubei, Henan, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hunan and Guizhou. Some spots could see hourly downpours over 50 mm with thunder and gusty winds 🌧️⚡️💨.

Meanwhile, a blue wind alert covers parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Qinghai, Liaoning, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu and Sichuan. Coastal and sea areas—Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, the Taiwan Strait, Bashi Channel and South China Sea—will face gales too 🚢.

The NMC urges local authorities to roll out safety measures, protect transport routes, and prevent fires in forests, grasslands and urban areas. Ships and crews are advised to return to port ASAP for safety ⛴️.
