Zimbabwean Minister: Women Are the Backbone of Africa’s Change

Under the glimmering lights of Beijing, a powerful message echoed during the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women: Africa’s future is driven by its women. Zimbabwe’s Minister of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Monica Mutsvangwa took center stage, praising the collaborative spirit between Harare and the Chinese government. 🌟

“African women are not just beneficiaries; they’re change-makers,” Mutsvangwa declared. “They are hardworking, resilient and ready to embrace digital transformation.” She spotlighted how women-led SMEs now account for around 60% of Zimbabwe’s GDP, fueling innovation and new opportunities from Harare to Bulawayo.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the minister described this milestone as a chance to “review, recommit and move forward together.” She expressed her gratitude to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government for training programs and support that have boosted women entrepreneurs across the Chinese mainland and beyond.

Looking ahead, Mutsvangwa hopes for deeper ties between Zimbabwe and China, especially in areas like green development and inclusive growth. “Together, we can build an Africa where every woman has the tools to succeed,” she said, her words resonating with optimism and purpose. 💚🚀

As digital skills workshops, green tech initiatives and entrepreneurship programs multiply, the shared vision is clear: when women thrive, whole communities blossom. And at the heart of that transformation? The unstoppable spirit of African women. #WomenRise
