China Stands Firm on Trade War, Clarifies Rare Earth Controls

A Ministry of Commerce spokesperson in the Chinese mainland said China’s position on the trade war is clear and unchanging. “We will stand firm if a fight is forced on us, and we are open to negotiation if approached,” they emphasized. 🤝

The remarks came after the US announced new tariff hikes and other restrictive measures against China. According to the spokesperson, both sides share big common interests and have plenty of space to cooperate. “Cooperation benefits both; confrontation hurts both sides,” they noted. 🌍

The spokesperson also explained that the Chinese mainland government’s export control measures on rare earths and related items are legitimate steps to refine the export control system under existing laws. These are not outright bans—licenses will be granted for eligible applications to safeguard the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains. ⚖️

In a nutshell, China is sending a clear message: its trade-war stance is rock solid, but the door is open for talks that can ease tensions and boost shared prosperity. ✨
