NEV Charging on Chinese Mainland Highways Soars During National Day Holiday

As families hit the road for the extended National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, something electric just kept charging on: NEVs! 🚗⚡️ Official data from the Chinese mainland’s National Energy Administration shows that drivers plugged in a jaw-dropping 123 million kilowatt-hours of juice on highways over the eight-day break—a 45.73% jump from last year.

Here’s how the numbers stack up:

  • Record total charging: 123 million kWh (+45.7% YoY)
  • 5.17 million highway charging sessions
  • Average daily volume: 15.36 million kWh (2.6× higher than the year’s average)

The holiday’s extended stretch—combining National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival from October 1 to 8—fueled a travel boom, filling highways and transport hubs with eager explorers.

The Chinese mainland’s NEV market has been supercharging growth for years. By June, there were 36.89 million NEVs on the roads, making up over 10% of the total fleet. It’s no surprise the mainland has led the world in NEV sales for 10 straight years.

Behind this surge is a vast charging network: the world’s largest, with two charging piles for every five electric vehicles. 🌏🔋 As more young adventurers hit the highways, the Chinese mainland’s charging infrastructure keeps up, making long-distance, eco-friendly road trips a reality.
