China Pushes Neutrality Group to Revitalize Global Governance

In a dynamic video address to the second parliamentary meeting of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, called on member states to join forces in revitalizing multilateralism 🌍🤝.

Celebrating over five years since the group's launch, Zhao highlighted its role in boosting trust, deepening exchanges, and driving collective action. With 2023 marking the 80th anniversary of the UN and victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, he warned that global governance faces headwinds in today's turbulent era.

Zhao introduced the China-proposed Global Governance Initiative (GGI) as a roadmap for a fairer world. Emphasizing sovereign equality, the international rule of law, multilateral teamwork, and a people-centered approach, the GGI stands alongside the Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives as pillars for positive change.

The meeting focused on how inter-parliamentary dialogue can safeguard peace and build trust. Zhao urged legislators to champion just and equitable global governance and to forge a community with a shared future for humanity. He called for concrete steps to implement all four global initiatives, reform the system, and uphold the UN as the core of international order.

Noting the strong friendship between the Chinese mainland and Turkmenistan, Zhao expressed readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and build a China–Turkmenistan community with a shared future 🌟.

Founded in August 2020 at Turkmenistan's initiative, the Group of Friends of Neutrality brings together 18 founding members committed to peaceful cooperation and inclusive development.
