Beijing to Host Global Summit of Women in 2025

🌟 Exciting news: Beijing is gearing up to host the next Global Summit of Women in 2025! This event will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing.

At a recent press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun shared details on China’s ambitious plans. He highlighted the white paper "China's Achievements in Women's Well-Rounded Development in the New Era", released on September 19. That paper showcases progress in women's rights and opportunities across the Chinese mainland.

Flashback to 2015: China and UN Women joined forces to organize the Global Summit of Women at the UN Headquarters in New York. Then, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed bringing the summit back to Beijing in 2025 to strengthen the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

With just five years left until the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals deadline, the world faces challenges and opportunities. Guo stressed that China isn't just talking the talk on gender equality—it's acting, with policies that support women's development and inspiring stories of progress across society.

China welcomes partners worldwide to write a new chapter in women's development. As Guo put it, "China is willing to work with countries around the world to join hands in advancing a new process for the all-round development of women and writing a new chapter in the global cause of women's development." Get ready for a landmark gathering in Beijing! 👩‍💼🌍
