Lights, camera… action! 🎬 The 12th Silk Road International Film Festival is rolling out the red carpet in Fuzhou, Fujian Province on the Chinese mainland from September 22 to 26. Under the theme "Silk Road Connects the World, Film Festival Illuminates Fuzhou", this year’s festival is set to be larger, bolder, and more international than ever! 🌏

Expanding Global Collaboration

With over 3,500 film submissions from 135 countries and regions, the festival’s vibe is nothing short of epic. Around 100 handpicked films from 44 nations — think Russia, France, Italy, and Iran — will hit the screen. More than 400 guests from 30 countries and regions, including filmmakers, cultural officials, and industry heavyweights, are landing in Fuzhou to share ideas and spark new partnerships.

Indonesia takes center stage as the guest country of honor, marking 75 years of ties between China and Indonesia and the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference. Expect a lineup of Indonesian movies, cultural showcases, and industry forums—perfect for anyone eyeing fresh co-production deals, tech innovations, and market ventures. 🇮🇩✨

Belt and Road Meets the Big Screen

In a spotlight on Belt and Road film collaboration, nine countries will unveil their national film policies, while nine international festivals will sign sister-festival pacts with SRIFF. Plus, the Cambodia Asia Film Festival’s China office is opening in Fuzhou, building a solid bridge for cultural exchange. 🤝

A New Cross-Strait Film Section

For the first time, the festival will feature a dedicated cross-strait film section—cementing Fuzhou’s role as a gateway for cultural interaction between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. The lineup includes a short film showcase, an AI short film challenge, promotions of Taiwan films, and project pitches from up-and-coming directors. It’s all about empowering residents of Taiwan working in Fujian and forging long-term industry ties across the strait. 🎥💡

Golden Silk Road Awards

The grand finale? The Golden Silk Road Awards. A 13-member international jury led by director Chen Kaige will judge top talent across 10 categories—from Best Film to Best Director. Names on the panel include Indonesian visionary Garin Nugroho, Belgian lens master Matthias Delvaux, Italian auteur Gabriele Mainetti, and more. Who will take home the golden prize? Stay tuned! 🏆
